Espeon E4 18/111 · Rising Rivals

Rising Rivals is a set in the Platinum series. It was released on May 16, 2009. The printed size is 111. This checklist is longer, at 120 cards. Espeon E4 is 18/111, in position 18 of 120 on this checklist. Before it is 17 Drapion E4, and after it is 19 Flareon. The listed rarity is Rare.

Espeon E4 is a Basic SP Psychic Pokémon with 80 HP. The card lists level 55. In the Pokédex this is Espeon (#196), generation 2 (Johto).

Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this card. The same name is on 721 other cards in the catalog.

Espeon (#196) has 39 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 25 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2001 to 2026. The earliest other card is Espeon 1/75 in Neo Discovery (2001). That card is named Espeon, while this one is Espeon E4. Both list 80 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Atsuko Nishida illustrated that card, and Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this one. 34 other cards of Espeon list a different HP.

The attack Hypnosis lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless. The Defending Pokémon is now Asleep. Psywave is another attack lists 20+ damage. The cost is Psychic, Colorless. Does 20 damage plus 10 more damage for each Energy attached to the Defending Pokémon. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 1.

I keep a set binder for Rising Rivals, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Rising Rivals set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Espeon can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Eevee and the Eeveelutions and Mitsuhiro Arita cards. I still need this card.
