Sceptile 5/17 · POP Series 4

Sceptile is Pokédex #254, generation 3 (Hoenn). Sceptile is a Stage 2 Grass Pokémon with 100 HP. The card says it evolves from Grovyle. In this catalog that name is Grovyle (#253).

Sceptile sits at 5/17 in POP Series 4, position 5 of 17. Before it is 4 Mew, and after it is 6 Combusken. The set belongs to the POP series. It was released on August 1, 2006. The printed size is 17, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Rare.

Energy Trans is listed as Poké-Power. As often as you like during your turn (before your attack), move a Grass Energy card attached to 1 of your Pokémon to another of your Pokémon. This power can't be used if Sceptile is affected by a Special Condition. The attack Tail Rap lists 50× damage. The cost is Grass, Colorless, Colorless. Flip 2 coins. This attack does 50 damage times the number of heads. Weakness is Fire ×2. Resistance is Water -30. Retreat cost is 3.

Sceptile (#254) has 23 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 14 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2018. The earliest other card is Sceptile 11/109 in Ruby & Sapphire (2003). That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Midori Harada illustrated that card, and Atsuko Nishida illustrated this one. 19 other cards of Sceptile list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Atsuko Nishida. I count 408 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

POP Series 4 set binder is where a full POP Series 4 set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Sceptile can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
