Rotom 5/17 · POP Series 9

POP Series 9 is a set in the POP series. It was released on March 1, 2009. The printed size is 17, and the checklist is the same length. Rotom is 5/17, in position 5 of 17 on this checklist. Before it is 4 Regigigas, and after it is 6 Buizel. The listed rarity is Rare.

Rotom is a Basic Lightning Pokémon with 70 HP. The card lists level 46. In the Pokédex this is Rotom (#479), generation 4 (Sinnoh).

Masakazu Fukuda illustrated this card. The same name is on 471 other cards in the catalog.

Rotom (#479) has 49 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 27 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2008 to 2026. The earliest other card is Rotom 7/106 in Great Encounters (2008). Both list 70 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Daisuke Ito illustrated that card, and Masakazu Fukuda illustrated this one. 35 other cards of Rotom list a different HP.

Type Shift is listed as Poké-Power. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may use this power. Rotom's type is Psychic until the end of your turn. The attack Poltergeist lists 30+ damage. The cost is Psychic, Colorless. Look at your opponent's hand. This attack does 30 damage plus 10 more damage for each Trainer, Supporter, and Stadium card in your opponent's hand. Weakness is Darkness +20. Resistance is Colorless -20. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Its electric-like body can enter some kinds of machines and take control in order to make mischief."

I keep a set binder for POP Series 9, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the POP Series 9 set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Rotom can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). I still need this card.
