Malamar 51/131 · Forbidden Light

Malamar is Pokédex #687, generation 6 (Kalos). Malamar is a Stage 1 Psychic Pokémon with 90 HP. The card says it evolves from Inkay. In this catalog that name is Inkay (#686).

Malamar sits at 51/131 in Forbidden Light, position 52 of 150. Before it is 50 Inkay, and after it is 52 Skrelp. The set belongs to the Sun & Moon series. It was released on May 4, 2018. The printed size is 131. This checklist is longer, at 150 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

Psychic Recharge is listed as Ability. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may attach a Psychic Energy card from your discard pile to 1 of your Benched Pokémon. The attack Psychic Sphere lists 60 damage. The cost is Psychic, Psychic, Colorless. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "It lures prey close with hypnotic motions, then wraps its tentacles around it before finishing it off with digestive fluids."

Malamar (#687) has 21 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 16 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2013 to 2026. The earliest other card is Malamar XY58/211 in XY Black Star Promos (2013). Both list 90 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare. 5ban Graphics illustrated that card, and You Iribi illustrated this one. 17 other cards of Malamar list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads You Iribi. I count 50 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Forbidden Light set binder is where a full Forbidden Light set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Malamar can fill a slot in Generation 6 binder (Kalos). I still need this card.
