Malamar-EX 58/119 · Phantom Forces

Malamar is Pokédex #687, generation 6 (Kalos). Malamar-EX is a Basic EX Darkness Pokémon with 170 HP.

Malamar-EX sits at 58/119 in Phantom Forces, position 59 of 124. Before it is 57 Liepard, and after it is 59 Skarmory. The set belongs to the XY series. It was released on November 5, 2014. The printed size is 119. This checklist is longer, at 124 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo EX.

Hyper Hypnosis is listed as Ability. When you attach an Energy from your hand to this Pokémon, you may use this Ability. Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Asleep. The attack MAXamar lists 60× damage. The cost is Darkness, Colorless. Flip a coin for each Energy attached to this Pokémon. This attack does 60 damage times the number of heads. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Resistance is Psychic -20. Retreat cost is 2. The card text says: Pokémon-EX rule: When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Malamar (#687) has 21 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 17 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2013 to 2026. The earliest other card is Malamar XY58/211 in XY Black Star Promos (2013). That card is named Malamar, while this one is Malamar-EX. That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 170 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare Holo EX. 5ban Graphics illustrated that card, and Eske Yoshinob illustrated this one. 20 other cards of Malamar list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Eske Yoshinob. I count 177 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Phantom Forces set binder is where a full Phantom Forces set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Malamar can fill a slot in Generation 6 binder (Kalos). I still need this card.
