Magcargo 24/168 · Celestial Storm

Celestial Storm is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on August 3, 2018. The printed size is 168. This checklist is longer, at 187 cards. Magcargo is 24/168, in position 25 of 187 on this checklist. Before it is 23 Slugma, and after it is 25 Torchic. The listed rarity is Rare.

Magcargo is a Stage 1 Fire Pokémon with 90 HP. In the Pokédex this is Magcargo (#219), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Slugma. In this catalog that name is Slugma (#218).

Midori Harada illustrated this card. The same name is on 352 other cards in the catalog.

Magcargo (#219) has 29 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 20 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2001 to 2026. The earliest other card is Magcargo 33/64 in Neo Revelation (2001). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare. Shin-ichi Yoshida illustrated that card, and Midori Harada illustrated this one. 28 other cards of Magcargo list a different HP.

Smooth Over is listed as Ability. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may search your deck for a card, shuffle your deck, then put that card on top of it. The attack Combustion lists 50 damage. The cost is Fire, Colorless, Colorless. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The flavor text reads "Its body is as hot as lava and is always billowing. Flames will occasionally burst from its shell."

I keep a set binder for Celestial Storm, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Celestial Storm set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Magcargo can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
