Zapdos SM159/248 · SM Black Star Promos

SM Black Star Promos is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on February 3, 2017. The printed size is 248. This checklist is longer, at 251 cards. Zapdos is SM159/248, in position 162 of 251 on this checklist. Before it is SM158 Charizard, and after it is SM160 Nidoqueen. The listed rarity is Promo.

Zapdos is a Basic Lightning Pokémon with 110 HP. In the Pokédex this is Zapdos (#145), generation 1 (Kanto).

Misa Tsutsui illustrated this card. The same name is on 94 other cards in the catalog.

Zapdos (#145) has 49 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 35 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Zapdos 16/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 110 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Misa Tsutsui illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 41 other cards of Zapdos list a different HP.

The attack Thunderous Assault lists 10+ damage. The cost is Lightning. If this Pokémon was on the Bench and became your Active Pokémon this turn, this attack does 70 more damage. This attack's damage isn't affected by Weakness. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Resistance is Fighting -20. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "A legendary Pokémon that is said to live in thunderclouds. It freely controls lightning bolts."

I keep a set binder for SM Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the SM Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Zapdos can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
