Charizard SM226/248 · SM Black Star Promos

Charizard is Pokédex #006, generation 1 (Kanto). Charizard is a Stage 2 Fire Pokémon with 150 HP. The card says it evolves from Charmeleon. In this catalog that name is Charmeleon (#005).

Charizard sits at SM226/248 in SM Black Star Promos, position 229 of 251. Before it is SM225 Victini, and after it is SM227 Pikachu. The set belongs to the Sun & Moon series. It was released on February 3, 2017. The printed size is 248. This checklist is longer, at 251 cards. The listed rarity is Promo.

Roaring Resolve is listed as Ability. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may put 2 damage counters on this Pokémon. If you do, search your deck for up to 2 Fire Energy cards and attach them to this Pokémon. Then, shuffle your deck. The attack Continuous Blaze Ball lists 30+ damage. The cost is Fire, Fire. Discard all Fire Energy from this Pokémon. This attack does 50 more damage for each card you discarded in this way. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "This Pokémon was created by Mewtwo to prove that copies can be even more powerful than their originals."

Charizard (#006) has 106 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 51 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Charizard 4/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 150 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and 2019 Pikachu Project illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 103 other cards of Charizard list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads 2019 Pikachu Project. I count 2 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

SM Black Star Promos set binder is where a full SM Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Charizard can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are All Charizard cards. I still need this card.
