Glaceon SM238/248 · SM Black Star Promos

SM Black Star Promos is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on February 3, 2017. The printed size is 248. This checklist is longer, at 251 cards. Glaceon is SM238/248, in position 241 of 251 on this checklist. Before it is SM237 Leafeon, and after it is SM239 Carracosta-GX. The listed rarity is Promo.

Glaceon is a Stage 1 Water Pokémon with 110 HP. In the Pokédex this is Glaceon (#471), generation 4 (Sinnoh). The card says it evolves from Eevee. In this catalog that name is Eevee (#133).

Mizue illustrated this card. The same name is on 184 other cards in the catalog.

Glaceon (#471) has 31 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 17 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2008 to 2025. The earliest other card is Glaceon 5/100 in Majestic Dawn (2008). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 110 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Atsuko Nishida illustrated that card, and Mizue illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 29 other cards of Glaceon list a different HP.

The attack Snow Cloak lists 30 damage. The cost is Water. Flip a coin. If heads, prevent all effects of attacks, including damage, done to this Pokémon during your opponent's next turn. Hypnotic Blizzard is another attack lists 90 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Colorless. Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Asleep. This attack does 20 damage to each of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Metal ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "It protects itself by freezing its fur into sharp needles. It can drop its body temperature below –75 degrees Fahrenheit."

I keep a set binder for SM Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the SM Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Glaceon can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). Themed lists that include this exact card are Eevee and the Eeveelutions. I still need this card.
