Lurantis SM25/248 · SM Black Star Promos

SM Black Star Promos is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on February 3, 2017. The printed size is 248. This checklist is longer, at 251 cards. Lurantis is SM25/248, in position 25 of 251 on this checklist. Before it is SM24 Popplio, and after it is SM26 Tsareena. The listed rarity is Promo.

Lurantis is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 100 HP. In the Pokédex this is Lurantis (#754), generation 7 (Alola). The card says it evolves from Fomantis. In this catalog that name is Fomantis (#753).

Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this card. The same name is on 721 other cards in the catalog.

Lurantis (#754) has 8 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 5 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2017 to 2026. The earliest other card is Lurantis-GX 15/149 in Sun & Moon (2017). That card is named Lurantis-GX, while this one is Lurantis. That card lists 210 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo GX, and here it is Promo. 5ban Graphics illustrated that card, and Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this one. 8 other cards of Lurantis list a different HP.

Sunny Day is listed as Ability. The attacks of your Grass Pokémon and Fire Pokémon do 20 more damage to your opponent's Active Pokémon (before applying Weakness and Resistance). The attack Solar Beam lists 80 damage. The cost is Grass, Grass, Colorless. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "It requires a lot of effort to maintain Lurantis's vivid coloring, but some collectors enjoy this work and treat it as their hobby."

I keep a set binder for SM Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the SM Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Lurantis can fill a slot in Generation 7 binder (Alola). Themed lists that include this exact card are Mitsuhiro Arita cards. I still need this card.
