Komala SM41/248 · SM Black Star Promos

SM Black Star Promos is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on February 3, 2017. The printed size is 248. This checklist is longer, at 251 cards. Komala is SM41/248, in position 42 of 251 on this checklist. Before it is SM40 Jangmo-o, and after it is SM42 Cosmog. The listed rarity is Promo.

Komala is a Basic Colorless Pokémon with 80 HP. In the Pokédex this is Komala (#775), generation 7 (Alola).

nagimiso illustrated this card. The same name is on 156 other cards in the catalog.

Komala (#775) has 5 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 5 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2017 to 2026. The earliest other card is Komala 114/145 in Guardians Rising (2017). Both list 80 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Promo. Kouki Saitou illustrated that card, and nagimiso illustrated this one. 4 other cards of Komala list a different HP.

Comatose is listed as Ability. As long as this Pokémon is your Active Pokémon, whenever you attach an Energy from your hand to it, it is now Asleep. The attack Hypno Roll lists 100 damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. This attack can be used if this Pokémon is Asleep. If it is not Asleep, this attack does nothing. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "It is born asleep, and it dies asleep. All its movements are apparently no more than the results of it tossing and turning in its dreams."

I keep a set binder for SM Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the SM Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Komala can fill a slot in Generation 7 binder (Alola). I still need this card.
