Zoroark SM89/248 · SM Black Star Promos

SM Black Star Promos is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on February 3, 2017. The printed size is 248. This checklist is longer, at 251 cards. Zoroark is SM89/248, in position 90 of 251 on this checklist. Before it is SM88 Latios, and after it is SM90 Raichu-GX. The listed rarity is Promo.

Zoroark is a Stage 1 Darkness Pokémon with 120 HP. In the Pokédex this is Zoroark (#571), generation 5 (Unova). The card says it evolves from Zorua. In this catalog that name is Zorua (#570).

Misa Tsutsui illustrated this card. The same name is on 94 other cards in the catalog.

Zoroark (#571) has 40 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 22 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2011 to 2026. The earliest other card is Zoroark BW09/101 in BW Black Star Promos (2011). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 120 HP. Both list the rarity Promo. Naoki Saito illustrated that card, and Misa Tsutsui illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 32 other cards of Zoroark list a different HP.

The attack Rip Claw lists 30 damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, discard an Energy from your opponent's Active Pokémon. Doom Crush is another attack lists 120 damage. The cost is Darkness, Darkness, Colorless. Discard a Darkness Energy from this Pokémon. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Resistance is Psychic -20. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "Each has the ability to fool a large group of people simultaneously. They protect their lair with illusory scenery."

I keep a set binder for SM Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the SM Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Zoroark can fill a slot in Generation 5 binder (Unova). I still need this card.
