Charizard ex 125/197 · Obsidian Flames

Charizard is Pokédex #006, generation 1 (Kanto). Charizard ex is a Stage 2 ex Tera Darkness Pokémon with 330 HP. The card says it evolves from Charmeleon. In this catalog that name is Charmeleon (#005).

Charizard ex sits at 125/197 in Obsidian Flames, position 125 of 230. Before it is 124 Koraidon ex, and after it is 126 Paldean Wooper. The set belongs to the Scarlet & Violet series. It was released on August 11, 2023. The printed size is 197. This checklist is longer, at 230 cards. The listed rarity is Double Rare.

Infernal Reign is listed as Ability. When you play this Pokémon from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokémon during your turn, you may search your deck for up to 3 Basic Fire Energy cards and attach them to your Pokémon in any way you like. Then, shuffle your deck. The attack Burning Darkness lists 180+ damage. The cost is Fire, Fire. This attack does 30 more damage for each Prize card your opponent has taken. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The card text says: Pokémon ex rule: When your Pokémon ex is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. The card text says: Tera: As long as this Pokémon is on your Bench, prevent all damage done to this Pokémon by attacks (both yours and your opponent's). The regulation mark is G.

Charizard (#006) has 106 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 51 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Charizard 4/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Charizard, while this one is Charizard ex. That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 330 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Double Rare. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and 5ban Graphics illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 91 other cards of Charizard list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads 5ban Graphics. I count 1,629 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Obsidian Flames set binder is where a full Obsidian Flames set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Charizard can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are All Charizard cards. I still need this card.
