Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos
Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos is a set in the Scarlet & Violet series. It was released on January 1, 2023. The printed size is 102. This checklist is longer, at 165 cards. Noctowl is 141/102, in position 141 of 165 on this checklist. Before it is 140 Tinkaton, and after it is 142 Victini ex. The collector number is above the printed set size of 102. Noctowl is a Stage 1 Colorless Pokémon with 100 HP. In the Pokédex this is Noctowl (#164), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Hoothoot. In this catalog that name is Hoothoot (#163).
Tetsu Kayama illustrated this card. The same name is on 18 other cards in the catalog.
Noctowl (#164) has 18 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 18 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2025. The earliest other card is Noctowl 42/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Promo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Tetsu Kayama illustrated this one. 15 other cards of Noctowl list a different HP.
Jewel Seeker is listed as Ability. Once during your turn, when you play this Pokémon from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokémon, if you have any Tera Pokémon in play, you may search your deck for up to 2 Trainer cards, reveal them, and put them into your hand. Then, shuffle your deck. The attack Speed Wing lists 60 damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Resistance is Fighting -30. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Its extremely soft wings make no sound in flight. It silently sneaks up on prey without being detected." The regulation mark is H.
I keep a set binder for Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Noctowl can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
