Morpeko VMAX 80/202 · Sword & Shield

Morpeko is Pokédex #877, generation 8 (Galar). Morpeko VMAX is a VMAX Lightning Pokémon with 300 HP. The card says it evolves from Morpeko V. In this catalog that name is Morpeko (#877).

Morpeko VMAX sits at 80/202 in Sword & Shield, position 80 of 216. Before it is 79 Morpeko V, and after it is 81 Galarian Ponyta. The set belongs to the Sword & Shield series. It was released on February 7, 2020. The printed size is 202. This checklist is longer, at 216 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo VMAX.

The attack Max Discharge lists 180 damage. The cost is Lightning, Lightning, Colorless. This attack also does 20 damage to each of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The card text says: VMAX rule: When your Pokémon VMAX is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 3 Prize cards. The regulation mark is D.

Morpeko (#877) has 36 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 14 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2019 to 2026. The earliest other card is Morpeko SWSH012/307 in SWSH Black Star Promos (2019). That card is named Morpeko, while this one is Morpeko VMAX. That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 300 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare Holo VMAX. Kagemaru Himeno illustrated that card, and 5ban Graphics illustrated this one. 34 other cards of Morpeko list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads 5ban Graphics. I count 1,629 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Sword & Shield set binder is where a full Sword & Shield set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Morpeko can fill a slot in Generation 8 binder (Galar). I still need this card.
