Politoed 32/196 · Lost Origin

Politoed is Pokédex #186, generation 2 (Johto). Politoed is a Stage 2 Water Pokémon with 140 HP. The card says it evolves from Poliwhirl. In this catalog that name is Poliwhirl (#061).

Politoed sits at 32/196 in Lost Origin, position 32 of 217. Before it is 31 Poliwhirl, and after it is 33 Seel. The set belongs to the Sword & Shield series. It was released on September 9, 2022. The printed size is 196. This checklist is longer, at 217 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Lordly Songleader lists 10+ damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. If Poliwag is on your Bench, this attack does 60 more damage. If Poliwhirl is on your Bench, this attack does 90 more damage. If Poliwrath is on your Bench, this attack does 120 more damage. Hydro Splash is another attack lists 100 damage. The cost is Water, Colorless, Colorless. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "At nightfall, these Pokémon appear on the shores of lakes. They announce their territorial claims by letting out cries that sound like shouting." The regulation mark is F.

Politoed (#186) has 9 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 7 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2001 to 2017. The earliest other card is Politoed 8/75 in Neo Discovery (2001). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 140 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Tomokazu Komiya illustrated that card, and ryoma uratsuka illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 9 other cards of Politoed list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads ryoma uratsuka. I count 46 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Lost Origin set binder is where a full Lost Origin set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Politoed can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Beach and shore Pokémon. I still need this card.
