Ninetales 18/195 · Silver Tempest

Silver Tempest is a set in the Sword & Shield series. It was released on November 11, 2022. The printed size is 195. This checklist is longer, at 215 cards. Ninetales is 18/195, in position 18 of 215 on this checklist. Before it is 17 Vulpix, and after it is 19 Growlithe. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Ninetales is a Stage 1 Fire Pokémon with 110 HP. In the Pokédex this is Ninetales (#038), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Vulpix. In this catalog that name is Vulpix (#037).

Shiburingaru illustrated this card. The same name is on 35 other cards in the catalog.

Ninetales (#038) has 55 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 40 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Ninetales 12/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 110 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Uncommon. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Shiburingaru illustrated this one. 49 other cards of Ninetales list a different HP.

The attack Hypnotic Gaze lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless. Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Asleep. Scorching Breath is another attack lists 120 damage. The cost is Fire, Colorless. During your next turn, this Pokémon can't attack. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "It is said to live 1,000 years, and each of its tails is loaded with supernatural powers." The regulation mark is F.

I keep a set binder for Silver Tempest, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Silver Tempest set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Ninetales can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Vulpix and Ninetales. I still need this card.
