Butterfree 3/264 · Fusion Strike

Butterfree is Pokédex #012, generation 1 (Kanto). Butterfree is a Stage 2 Grass Pokémon with 120 HP. The card says it evolves from Metapod. In this catalog that name is Metapod (#011).

Butterfree sits at 3/264 in Fusion Strike, position 3 of 284. Before it is 2 Metapod, and after it is 4 Shroomish. The set belongs to the Sword & Shield series. It was released on November 12, 2021. The printed size is 264. This checklist is longer, at 284 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Tricolored Scales is listed as Ability. When you play this Pokémon from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokémon during your turn, you may make your opponent's Active Pokémon Burned, Confused, and Poisoned. The attack Gust lists 90 damage. The cost is Grass, Colorless. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "It collects honey every day. It rubs honey onto the hairs on its legs to carry it back to its nest." The regulation mark is E.

Butterfree (#012) has 24 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 20 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Butterfree 33/64 in Jungle (1999). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 120 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare Holo. Kagemaru Himeno illustrated that card, and ryoma uratsuka illustrated this one. 20 other cards of Butterfree list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads ryoma uratsuka. I count 46 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Fusion Strike set binder is where a full Fusion Strike set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Butterfree can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Berries and fruit. I still need this card.
