Starmie 34/146 · XY

XY is a set in the XY series. It was released on February 5, 2014. The printed size is 146, and the checklist is the same length. Starmie is 34/146, in position 34 of 146 on this checklist. Before it is 33 Staryu, and after it is 35 Lapras. The listed rarity is Rare.

Starmie is a Stage 1 Water Pokémon with 90 HP. In the Pokédex this is Starmie (#121), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Staryu. In this catalog that name is Staryu (#120).

Suwama Chiaki illustrated this card. The same name is on 102 other cards in the catalog.

Starmie (#121) has 34 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 27 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Starmie 64/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. The rarity there is Common, and here it is Rare. Keiji Kinebuchi illustrated that card, and Suwama Chiaki illustrated this one. 24 other cards of Starmie list a different HP.

The attack Recover lists no damage number. The cost is Water. Discard an Energy attached to this Pokémon and heal all damage from it. Core Splash is another attack lists 60+ damage. The cost is Water, Colorless, Colorless. If this Pokémon has any Psychic Energy attached to it, this attack does 30 more damage. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Its central core glows with the seven colors of the rainbow. Some people value the core as a gem."

I keep a set binder for XY, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the XY set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Starmie can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
