Absol XY178/211 · XY Black Star Promos

Absol is Pokédex #359, generation 3 (Hoenn). Absol is a Basic Darkness Pokémon with 100 HP.

Absol sits at XY178/211 in XY Black Star Promos, position 181 of 216. Before it is XY177a Karen, and after it is XY179 Snorlax. The set belongs to the XY series. It was released on October 12, 2013. The printed size is 211. This checklist is longer, at 216 cards. The listed rarity is Promo.

Lamentation is listed as Ability. If this Pokémon is your Active Pokémon and is damaged by an opponent's attack (even if this Pokémon is Knocked Out), discard a random card from your opponent's hand. The attack Shadow Cage lists 60 damage. The cost is Darkness, Colorless, Colorless. The Defending Pokémon can't retreat during your opponent's next turn. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Resistance is Psychic -20. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "It appears when it senses an impending natural disaster. As a result, it was mistaken as a doom bringer."

Absol (#359) has 29 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 24 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2025. The earliest other card is Absol 1/97 in Dragon (2003). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Naoyo Kimura illustrated that card, and Hasuno illustrated this one. 16 other cards of Absol list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Hasuno. I count 74 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

XY Black Star Promos set binder is where a full XY Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Absol can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
