Umbreon XY96/211 · XY Black Star Promos

XY Black Star Promos is a set in the XY series. It was released on October 12, 2013. The printed size is 211. This checklist is longer, at 216 cards. Umbreon is XY96/211, in position 97 of 216 on this checklist. Before it is XY95 Pikachu, and after it is XY97 Aerodactyl-EX. The listed rarity is Promo.

Umbreon is a Stage 1 Darkness Pokémon with 100 HP. In the Pokédex this is Umbreon (#197), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Eevee. In this catalog that name is Eevee (#133).

kawayoo illustrated this card. The same name is on 209 other cards in the catalog.

Umbreon (#197) has 45 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 26 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2001 to 2026. The earliest other card is Umbreon 13/75 in Neo Discovery (2001). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Kimiya Masago illustrated that card, and kawayoo illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 40 other cards of Umbreon list a different HP.

The attack Mach Claw lists 30 damage. The cost is Darkness, Colorless. This attack's damage isn't affected by Resistance. Lunatic Sense is another attack lists 60+ damage. The cost is Darkness, Colorless, Colorless. Turn 1 of your face-down Prize cards face up. If that Prize card is a Pokémon, this attack does 60 more damage. (That Prize card remains up for the rest of the game.) Weakness is Fighting ×2. Resistance is Psychic -20. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "When exposed to the moon's aura, the rings on its body glow faintly and it's filled with a mysterious power."

I keep a set binder for XY Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the XY Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Umbreon can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Eevee and the Eeveelutions. I still need this card.
