Primeape 59/110 · Legendary Collection

Legendary Collection is a set in the Other series. It was released on 24 May 2002. The printed size is 110, and the checklist is the same length. Primeape is 59/110, in position 59 of 110 on this checklist. Before it is 58 Omastar, and after it is 60 Rapidash. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Primeape is a Stage 1 Fighting Pokémon with 70 HP. The card lists level 45. In the Pokédex this is Primeape (#057), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Mankey. In this catalog that name is Mankey (#056).

Kagemaru Himeno illustrated this card. The same name is on 656 other cards in the catalog.

Primeape (#057) has 24 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 23 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Primeape 43/64 in Jungle (1999). Both list 70 HP. Both list the rarity Uncommon. 20 other cards of Primeape list a different HP.

The attack Fury Swipes lists 20× damage. The cost is Fighting, Fighting. Flip 3 coins. This attack does 20 damage times the number of heads. Tantrum is another attack lists 50 damage. The cost is Fighting, Fighting, Colorless. Flip a coin. If tails, Primeape is now Confused (after doing damage). Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Always furious and tenacious to boot. It will not abandon chasing its quarry until its quarry is caught."

I keep a set binder for Legendary Collection, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Legendary Collection set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Primeape can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
