Ariados 15/123 · HeartGold & SoulSilver

Ariados is Pokédex #168, generation 2 (Johto). Ariados is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 80 HP. The card says it evolves from Spinarak. In this catalog that name is Spinarak (#167).

Ariados sits at 15/123 in HeartGold & SoulSilver, position 15 of 124. Before it is 14 Ampharos, and after it is 16 Butterfree. The set belongs to the HeartGold & SoulSilver series. It was released on 10 February 2010. The printed size is 123. This checklist is longer, at 124 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Leech Life lists 30 damage. The cost is Grass, Colorless. Remove from Ariados the number of damage counters equal to the damage you did to the Defending Pokémon. Poisonous Saliva is another attack lists 50 damage. The cost is Grass, Colorless, Colorless. The Defending Pokémon is now Poisoned. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "It spins string not only from its rear but also from its mouth. It's hard to tell which end is which."

Ariados (#168) has 17 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 16 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2026. The earliest other card is Ariados 27/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 80 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare. 16 other cards of Ariados list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Ken Sugimori. I count 1,112 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

HeartGold & SoulSilver set binder is where a full HeartGold & SoulSilver set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Ariados can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
