Noctowl HGSS06/25 · HGSS Black Star Promos

Noctowl is Pokédex #164, generation 2 (Johto). Noctowl is a Stage 1 Colorless Pokémon with 90 HP. The card says it evolves from Hoothoot. In this catalog that name is Hoothoot (#163).

Noctowl sits at HGSS06/25 in HGSS Black Star Promos, position 6 of 25. Before it is HGSS05 Hoothoot, and after it is HGSS07 Feraligatr. The set belongs to the HeartGold & SoulSilver series. It was released on 10 February 2010. The printed size is 25, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Promo.

Night Scope is listed as Poké-Power. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may look at your opponent's hand. This power can't be used if Noctowl is affected by a Special Condition. The attack Hypnoblast lists 30 damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. The Defending Pokémon is now Asleep. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Resistance is Fighting -20. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "When it needs to think, it rotates its head 180 degrees to sharpen its intellectual power."

Noctowl (#164) has 18 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 18 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2025. The earliest other card is Noctowl 42/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Promo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Masakazu Fukuda illustrated this one. 12 other cards of Noctowl list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Masakazu Fukuda. I count 471 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

HGSS Black Star Promos set binder is where a full HGSS Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Noctowl can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
