Blastoise 1/17 · POP Series 3

POP Series 3 is a set in the POP series. It was released on 1 April 2006. The printed size is 17, and the checklist is the same length. Blastoise is 1/17, in position 1 of 17 on this checklist. The next card is 2 Flareon. The listed rarity is Rare.

Blastoise is a Stage 2 Water Pokémon with 120 HP. In the Pokédex this is Blastoise (#009), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Wartortle. In this catalog that name is Wartortle (#008).

Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this card. The same name is on 721 other cards in the catalog.

Blastoise (#009) has 44 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 26 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2024. The earliest other card is Blastoise 2/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 120 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 42 other cards of Blastoise list a different HP.

The attack Smash Turn lists 30 damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. After your attack, you may switch Blastoise with 1 of your Benched Pokémon. Rocket Tackle is another attack lists 60 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Colorless, Colorless. Blastoise does 10 damage to itself. Flip a coin. If heads, prevent all damage done to Blastoise by attacks during your opponent's next turn. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 2.

I keep a set binder for POP Series 3, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the POP Series 3 set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Blastoise can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Mitsuhiro Arita cards. I still need this card.
