Parasect 5/149 · Sun & Moon

Parasect is Pokédex #047, generation 1 (Kanto). Parasect is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 110 HP. The card says it evolves from Paras. In this catalog that name is Paras (#046).

Parasect sits at 5/149 in Sun & Moon, position 5 of 173. Before it is 4 Paras, and after it is 6 Pinsir. The set belongs to the Sun & Moon series. It was released on 3 February 2017. The printed size is 149. This checklist is longer, at 173 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Fury Cutter lists 10+ damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. Flip 3 coins. If 1 of them is heads, this attack does 20 more damage. If 2 of them are heads, this attack does 60 more damage. If all of them are heads, this attack does 120 damage. Mushroom Drain is another attack lists 70 damage. The cost is Grass, Grass, Colorless. Heal 30 damage from this Pokémon. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The flavor text reads "The large mushroom on its back controls it. It often fights over territory with Shiinotic."

Parasect (#047) has 16 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 16 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Parasect 41/64 in Jungle (1999). That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 110 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Eri Yamaki illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 3. 16 other cards of Parasect list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Eri Yamaki. I count 39 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Sun & Moon set binder is where a full Sun & Moon set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Parasect can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
