Parasect 58/123 · Mysterious Treasures

Mysterious Treasures is a set in the Diamond & Pearl series. It was released on 1 August 2007. The printed size is 123. This checklist is longer, at 124 cards. Parasect is 58/123, in position 58 of 124 on this checklist. Before it is 57 Octillery, and after it is 59 Pupitar. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Parasect is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 90 HP. The card lists level 36. In the Pokédex this is Parasect (#047), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Paras. In this catalog that name is Paras (#046).

Masakazu Fukuda illustrated this card. The same name is on 471 other cards in the catalog.

Parasect (#047) has 16 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 16 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Parasect 41/64 in Jungle (1999). That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. Both list the rarity Uncommon. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Masakazu Fukuda illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 15 other cards of Parasect list a different HP.

The attack Wild Spores lists 20 damage. The cost is Grass. If Parasect evolved from Paras during this turn, this attack does 40 damage and the Defending Pokémon is now Asleep and Poisoned. Extend Fungus is another attack lists 60 damage. The cost is Grass, Grass, Colorless. Remove 2 damage counters from Parasect. Weakness is Fire +20. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "A mushroom grown larger than the host's body controls PARASECT. It scatters poisonous spores."

I keep a set binder for Mysterious Treasures, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Mysterious Treasures set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Parasect can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
