Alolan Sandshrew 28/156 · Ultra Prism

Ultra Prism is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on 2 February 2018. The printed size is 156. This checklist is longer, at 178 cards. Alolan Sandshrew is a Basic Water Pokémon with 60 HP. In the Pokédex this is Sandshrew (#027), generation 1 (Kanto). The card lists Sandslash, Sandslash (#028) under evolves to.

Shin Nagasawa illustrated this card. The same name is on 303 other cards in the catalog.

Sandshrew (#027) has 24 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 22 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Sandshrew 62/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Sandshrew, while this one is Alolan Sandshrew. That card lists 40 HP, and this one lists 60 HP. Both list the rarity Common. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Shin Nagasawa illustrated this one. 13 other cards of Sandshrew list a different HP.

The attack Fury Swipes lists 10× damage. Flip 3 coins. This attack does 10 damage for each heads. Weakness is Metal ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "An ancient tradition of Alolan festivals, still carried on to this day, is a competition to slide Sandshrew across ice as far as one can."

I keep a set binder for Ultra Prism, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Ultra Prism set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Sandshrew can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Alolan forms. I still need this card.
