Ninetales ex 38/165 · 151

Ninetales is Pokédex #038, generation 1 (Kanto). Ninetales ex is a Stage 1 ex Fire Pokémon with 260 HP. The card says it evolves from Vulpix. In this catalog that name is Vulpix (#037).

Ninetales ex sits at 38/165 in 151, position 38 of 207. Before it is 37 Vulpix, and after it is 39 Jigglypuff. The set belongs to the Scarlet & Violet series. It was released on 22 September 2023. The printed size is 165. This checklist is longer, at 207 cards. The listed rarity is Double Rare.

The attack Heat Wave lists 30 damage. The cost is Fire. Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Burned. Mirrored Flames is another attack lists 80+ damage. The cost is Fire, Colorless. If you have the same number of cards in your hand as your opponent, this attack does 140 more damage. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The card text says: Pokémon ex rule: When your Pokémon ex is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. The regulation mark is G.

Ninetales (#038) has 55 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 41 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Ninetales 12/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Ninetales, while this one is Ninetales ex. That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 260 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Double Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and kawayoo illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 54 other cards of Ninetales list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads kawayoo. I count 209 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

151 set binder is where a full 151 set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Ninetales can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Vulpix and Ninetales. I still need this card.
