Blastoise ex 30/142 · Stellar Crown

Stellar Crown is a set in the Scarlet & Violet series. It was released on 13 September 2024. The printed size is 142. This checklist is longer, at 175 cards. Blastoise ex is 30/142, in position 30 of 175 on this checklist. Before it is 29 Charcadet, and after it is 31 Lapras. The listed rarity is Double Rare.

Blastoise ex is a Stage 2 ex Water Pokémon with 330 HP. In the Pokédex this is Blastoise (#009), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Wartortle. In this catalog that name is Wartortle (#008).

Blastoise (#009) has 44 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 26 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2023. The earliest other card is Blastoise 2/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Blastoise, while this one is Blastoise ex. That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 330 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Double Rare. 40 other cards of Blastoise list a different HP.

Solid Shell is listed as Ability. This Pokémon takes 30 less damage from attacks (after applying Weakness and Resistance). The attack Twin Cannons lists 140× damage. The cost is Water, Water. Discard up to 2 Basic Water Energy cards from your hand. This attack does 140 damage for each card you discarded in this way. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The card text says: Pokémon ex rule: When your Pokémon ex is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. The regulation mark is G.

I keep a set binder for Stellar Crown, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Stellar Crown set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Blastoise can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
