Zapdos ex 49/102 · Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos

Zapdos is Pokédex #145, generation 1 (Kanto). Zapdos ex is a Basic ex Lightning Pokémon with 200 HP.

Zapdos ex sits at 49/102 in Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos, position 49 of 165. Before it is 48 Squirtle, and after it is 50 Alakazam ex. The set belongs to the Scarlet & Violet series. It was released on 1 January 2023. The printed size is 102. This checklist is longer, at 165 cards. The listed rarity is Promo.

Voltaic Float is listed as Ability. If this Pokémon has any Lightning Energy attached, it has no Retreat Cost. The attack Multishot Lightning lists 120 damage. The cost is Lightning, Lightning, Lightning. This attack also does 90 damage to 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon that has any damage counters on it. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Lightning ×2. Resistance is Fighting -30. Retreat cost is 2. The card text says: Pokémon ex rule: When your Pokémon ex is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. The regulation mark is G.

Zapdos (#145) has 49 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 35 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Zapdos 16/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Zapdos, while this one is Zapdos ex. That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 200 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and takuyoa illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 41 other cards of Zapdos list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads takuyoa. I count 64 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos set binder is where a full Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Zapdos can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Legendary birds and Modern living dex: the 151. I still need this card.
