Cloyster 51/264 · Fusion Strike

Fusion Strike is a set in the Sword & Shield series. It was released on 12 November 2021. The printed size is 264. This checklist is longer, at 284 cards. Cloyster is 51/264, in position 51 of 284 on this checklist. Before it is 50 Shellder, and after it is 52 Staryu. The listed rarity is Rare.

Cloyster is a Stage 1 Rapid Strike Water Pokémon with 130 HP. In the Pokédex this is Cloyster (#091), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Shellder. In this catalog that name is Shellder (#090).

nagimiso illustrated this card. The same name is on 156 other cards in the catalog.

Cloyster (#091) has 13 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 12 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2023. The earliest other card is Cloyster 32/62 in Fossil (1999). That card lists 50 HP, and this one lists 130 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare. Kagemaru Himeno illustrated that card, and nagimiso illustrated this one. 11 other cards of Cloyster list a different HP.

Shell Armor is listed as Ability. This Pokémon takes 30 less damage from attacks (after applying Weakness and Resistance). The attack Aqua Split lists 60 damage. The cost is Water, Colorless. This attack also does 30 damage to 2 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "Once it slams its shell shut, it is impossible to open, even by those with superior strength." The regulation mark is E.

I keep a set binder for Fusion Strike, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Fusion Strike set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Cloyster can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Rapid Strike. I still need this card.
