Ariados TG09/30 · Brilliant Stars Trainer Gallery

Brilliant Stars Trainer Gallery is a set in the Sword & Shield series. It was released on 25 February 2022. The printed size is 30, and the checklist is the same length. Ariados is TG09/30, in position 9 of 30 on this checklist. Before it is TG08 Alcremie, and after it is TG10 Houndoom. The listed rarity is Trainer Gallery Rare Holo.

Ariados is a Stage 1 Darkness Pokémon with 110 HP. In the Pokédex this is Ariados (#168), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Spinarak. In this catalog that name is Spinarak (#167).

Shiburingaru illustrated this card. The same name is on 35 other cards in the catalog.

Ariados (#168) has 17 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 16 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2026. The earliest other card is Ariados 27/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 110 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Trainer Gallery Rare Holo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Shiburingaru illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 13 other cards of Ariados list a different HP.

Spider Net is listed as Ability. When you play this Pokémon from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokémon during your turn, you may switch 1 of your opponent's Benched Evolution Pokémon with their Active Pokémon. The attack Poison Sting lists 30 damage. The cost is Darkness, Colorless. Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Poisoned. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "It spews threads from its mouth to catch its prey. When night falls, it leaves its web to go hunt aggressively." The regulation mark is D.

I keep a set binder for Brilliant Stars Trainer Gallery, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Brilliant Stars Trainer Gallery set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Ariados can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Trainer Gallery and Night and moon Pokémon. I still need this card.
