Arctozolt SWSH036/307 · SWSH Black Star Promos

SWSH Black Star Promos is a set in the Sword & Shield series. It was released on 15 November 2019. The printed size is 307. This checklist is longer, at 304 cards. Arctozolt is SWSH036/307, in position 36 of 304 on this checklist. Before it is SWSH035 Decidueye, and after it is SWSH037 Hydreigon. The listed rarity is Promo.

Arctozolt is a Stage 1 Lightning Pokémon with 130 HP. In the Pokédex this is Arctozolt (#881), generation 8 (Galar). The card says it evolves from Rare Fossil.

Hasuno illustrated this card. The same name is on 74 other cards in the catalog.

Arctozolt (#881) has 2 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 2 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2020 to 2021. The earliest other card is Arctozolt 66/189 in Darkness Ablaze (2020). Both list 130 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Hitoshi Ariga illustrated that card, and Hasuno illustrated this one.

Biting Whirlpool is listed as Ability. Whenever your opponent attaches an Energy card from their hand to 1 of their Pokémon, put 2 damage counters on that Pokémon. The attack Electro Ball lists 70 damage. The cost is Lightning, Colorless. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "The shaking of its freezing upper half is what generates its electricity. It has a hard time walking around." The regulation mark is D.

I keep a set binder for SWSH Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the SWSH Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Arctozolt can fill a slot in Generation 8 binder (Galar). Themed lists that include this exact card are Fossil Pokémon. I still need this card.
