Poliwrath 25/108 · Evolutions

Evolutions is a set in the XY series. It was released on 2 November 2016. The printed size is 108. This checklist is longer, at 113 cards. Poliwrath is 25/108, in position 25 of 113 on this checklist. Before it is 24 Poliwhirl, and after it is 26 Slowbro-EX. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Poliwrath is a Stage 2 Water Pokémon with 140 HP. The card lists level 48. In the Pokédex this is Poliwrath (#062), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Poliwhirl. In this catalog that name is Poliwhirl (#061).

Ken Sugimori illustrated this card. The same name is on 1,112 other cards in the catalog.

Poliwrath (#062) has 19 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 16 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2024. The earliest other card is Poliwrath 13/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 140 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 18 other cards of Poliwrath list a different HP.

The attack Dashing Punch lists 50+ damage. The cost is Water. If this Pokémon was on the Bench and became your Active Pokémon this turn, this attack does 50 more damage. Whirlpool is another attack lists 80 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Water. Discard an Energy attached to your opponent's Active Pokémon. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "An adept swimmer, it knows the front crawl, butterfly, and more. It is faster than the best human swimmers."

I keep a set binder for Evolutions, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Evolutions set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Poliwrath can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
