Lugia-EX 94/98 · Ancient Origins

Ancient Origins is a set in the XY series. It was released on 12 August 2015. The printed size is 98. This checklist is longer, at 101 cards. Lugia-EX is 94/98, in position 95 of 101 on this checklist. Before it is 93 Giratina-EX, and after it is 95 Steven. The listed rarity is Rare Ultra.

Lugia-EX is a Basic EX Colorless Pokémon with 170 HP. In the Pokédex this is Lugia (#249), generation 2 (Johto).

Ryo Ueda illustrated this card. The same name is on 462 other cards in the catalog.

Lugia (#249) has 38 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 26 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2026. The earliest other card is Lugia 9/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card is named Lugia, while this one is Lugia-EX. That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 170 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare Ultra. Hironobu Yoshida illustrated that card, and Ryo Ueda illustrated this one. 37 other cards of Lugia list a different HP.

The attack Aero Ball lists 20× damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. This attack does 20 damage times the amount of Energy attached to both Active Pokémon. Deep Hurricane is another attack lists 80+ damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. If there is any Stadium card in play, this attack does 70 more damage. Then, discard that Stadium card. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Resistance is Fighting -20. Retreat cost is 2. The card text says: Pokémon-EX rule: When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

I keep a set binder for Ancient Origins, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Ancient Origins set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Lugia can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are All Lugia cards. I still need this card.
