Whimsicott 12/98 · Emerging Powers

Whimsicott is Pokédex #547, generation 5 (Unova). Whimsicott is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 80 HP. The card says it evolves from Cottonee. In this catalog that name is Cottonee (#546).

Whimsicott sits at 12/98 in Emerging Powers, position 12 of 98. Before it is 11 Whimsicott, and after it is 13 Petilil. The set belongs to the Black & White series. It was released on August 31, 2011. The printed size is 98, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Encore lists 20 damage. The cost is Colorless. Choose 1 of the Defending Pokémon's attacks. During your opponent's next turn, that Pokémon can only use that attack. U-turn is another attack lists 40 damage. The cost is Grass, Grass. Switch this Pokémon with 1 of your Benched Pokémon. Weakness is Fire ×2. Resistance is Water -20. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Riding whirlwinds, they appear. These Pokémon sneak through gaps into houses and cause all sorts of mischief."

Whimsicott (#547) has 22 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 15 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2011 to 2025. The earliest other card is Whimsicott 11/98 in Emerging Powers (2011). Both list 80 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare. sui illustrated that card, and Mizue illustrated this one. 18 other cards of Whimsicott list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Mizue. I count 184 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Emerging Powers set binder is where a full Emerging Powers set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Whimsicott can fill a slot in Generation 5 binder (Unova). I still need this card.
