Sceptile 8/116 · Plasma Freeze

Sceptile is Pokédex #254, generation 3 (Hoenn). Sceptile is a Stage 2 Grass Pokémon with 130 HP. The card says it evolves from Grovyle. In this catalog that name is Grovyle (#253).

Sceptile sits at 8/116 in Plasma Freeze, position 8 of 122. Before it is 7 Grovyle, and after it is 9 Cacnea. The set belongs to the Black & White series. It was released on May 8, 2013. The printed size is 116. This checklist is longer, at 122 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

The attack X-Scissor lists 30+ damage. The cost is Grass, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 40 more damage. Energy Bloom is another attack lists 80 damage. The cost is Grass, Grass, Colorless. Heal 20 damage from each of your Pokémon that has any Energy attached to it. Weakness is Fire ×2. Resistance is Water -20. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "The leaves that grow on its arms can slice down thick trees. It is without peer in jungle combat."

Sceptile (#254) has 23 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 14 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2018. The earliest other card is Sceptile 11/109 in Ruby & Sapphire (2003). That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 130 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Midori Harada illustrated that card, and kawayoo illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 21 other cards of Sceptile list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads kawayoo. I count 209 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Plasma Freeze set binder is where a full Plasma Freeze set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Sceptile can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
