Flygon BW53/101 · BW Black Star Promos

Flygon is Pokédex #330, generation 3 (Hoenn). Flygon is a Stage 2 Dragon Pokémon with 140 HP. The card says it evolves from Vibrava. In this catalog that name is Vibrava (#329).

Flygon sits at BW53/101 in BW Black Star Promos, position 53 of 101. Before it is BW52 Lillipup, and after it is BW54 Pikachu. The set belongs to the Black & White series. It was released on March 1, 2011. The printed size is 101, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Promo.

Sand Slammer is listed as Ability. At any time between turns, if this Pokémon is your Active Pokémon, put 1 damage counter on each of your opponent's Pokémon. The attack Flying Beatdown lists 80 damage. The cost is Grass, Fighting, Colorless, Colorless. You may discard a Grass Energy and a Fighting Energy attached to this Pokémon. If you do, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed. Weakness is Dragon ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Known as "The Desert Spirit," this Pokémon hides in the sandstorms it causes by beating its wings."

Flygon (#330) has 27 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 19 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2025. The earliest other card is Flygon 25/40 in Nintendo Black Star Promos (2003). That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 140 HP. Both list the rarity Promo. Kouki Saitou illustrated that card, and BERUBURI illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 1. 23 other cards of Flygon list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads BERUBURI. I count 4 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

BW Black Star Promos set binder is where a full BW Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Flygon can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
