Slaking 18/18 · Detective Pikachu

Detective Pikachu is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on April 5, 2019. The printed size is 18, and the checklist is the same length. Slaking is 18/18, in position 18 of 18 on this checklist. The card before it is 17 Ditto. The listed rarity is Rare.

Slaking is a Stage 2 Colorless Pokémon with 180 HP. In the Pokédex this is Slaking (#289), generation 3 (Hoenn). The card says it evolves from Vigoroth. In this catalog that name is Vigoroth (#288).

Framestore illustrated this card. The same name is on 10 other cards in the catalog.

Slaking (#289) has 15 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 13 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2024. The earliest other card is Slaking 12/109 in Ruby & Sapphire (2003). That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 180 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Framestore illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 4. 12 other cards of Slaking list a different HP.

The attack Pitch lists 150 damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Your opponent switches their Active Pokémon with 1 of their Benched Pokémon. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "The world's laziest Pokémon. It moves to another spot when there's no food left within its reach."

I keep a set binder for Detective Pikachu, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Detective Pikachu set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Slaking can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
