Rocket's Articuno ex 96/109 · Team Rocket Returns

Team Rocket Returns is a set in the EX series. It was released on November 1, 2004. The printed size is 109. This checklist is longer, at 111 cards. Rocket's Articuno ex is 96/109, in position 96 of 111 on this checklist. Before it is 95 R Energy, and after it is 97 Rocket's Entei ex. The listed rarity is Rare Holo EX.

Rocket's Articuno ex is a Basic ex Darkness Pokémon with 100 HP. In the Pokédex this is Articuno (#144), generation 1 (Kanto).

Ryo Ueda illustrated this card. The same name is on 462 other cards in the catalog.

Articuno (#144) has 45 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 29 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Articuno 22/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos (1999). That card is named Articuno, while this one is Rocket's Articuno ex. That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare Holo EX. Toshinao Aoki illustrated that card, and Ryo Ueda illustrated this one. 42 other cards of Articuno list a different HP.

Darkness Veil is listed as Poké-Body. As long as Rocket's Articuno ex has any Darkness Energy attached to it, prevent all effects, except damage, by an opponent's attack done to Rocket's Articuno ex. The attack Freeze Solid lists 10 damage. The cost is Colorless. Search your discard pile for a Water Energy card and attach it to Rocket's Articuno ex. Ice Wing is another attack lists 50 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Colorless. Weakness is Metal ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The card text says: When Pokémon-ex has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

I keep a set binder for Team Rocket Returns, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Team Rocket Returns set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Articuno can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Trainer's Pokémon, Team Rocket cards, and Legendary birds. I still need this card.
