Suicune HGSS21/25 · HGSS Black Star Promos

HGSS Black Star Promos is a set in the HeartGold & SoulSilver series. It was released on February 10, 2010. The printed size is 25, and the checklist is the same length. Suicune is HGSS21/25, in position 21 of 25 on this checklist. Before it is HGSS20 Entei, and after it is HGSS22 Porygon. The listed rarity is Promo.

Suicune is a Basic Water Pokémon with 80 HP. In the Pokédex this is Suicune (#245), generation 2 (Johto).

Hideaki Hakozaki illustrated this card. The same name is on 35 other cards in the catalog.

Suicune (#245) has 30 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 21 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Suicune 53/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos (1999). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 80 HP. Both list the rarity Promo. Atsuko Nishida illustrated that card, and Hideaki Hakozaki illustrated this one. 29 other cards of Suicune list a different HP.

The attack Sheer Cold lists 50 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon can't attack during your opponent's next turn. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Said to be the embodiment of north winds, it can instantly purify filthy, murky water."

I keep a set binder for HGSS Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the HGSS Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Suicune can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Legendary beasts. I still need this card.
