Meganium 11/111 · Neo Genesis

Neo Genesis is a set in the Neo series. It was released on December 16, 2000. The printed size is 111, and the checklist is the same length. Meganium is 11/111, in position 11 of 111 on this checklist. Before it is 10 Meganium, and after it is 12 Pichu. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Meganium is a Stage 2 Grass Pokémon with 100 HP. The card lists level 57. In the Pokédex this is Meganium (#154), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Bayleef. In this catalog that name is Bayleef (#153).

Ken Sugimori illustrated this card. The same name is on 1,112 other cards in the catalog.

Meganium (#154) has 17 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 12 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2026. The earliest other card is Meganium 10/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). Both list 100 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. 12 other cards of Meganium list a different HP.

Wild Growth is listed as Pokémon Power. As long as Meganium is in play each Grass Energy card attached to your Grass Pokémon instead provides GrassGrass. This power stops working while Meganium is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed. The attack Soothing Scent lists 40 damage. The cost is Grass, Grass, Grass, Grass. The Defending Pokémon is now Asleep. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The flavor text reads "The aroma that rises from its petals contains a substance that calms aggressive feelings."

I keep a set binder for Neo Genesis, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Neo Genesis set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Meganium can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Johto starters and Flower Pokémon. I still need this card.
