Meganium 54/165 · Expedition Base Set

Expedition Base Set is a set in the E-Card series. It was released on September 15, 2002. The printed size is 165, and the checklist is the same length. Meganium is 54/165, in position 54 of 165 on this checklist. Before it is 53 Meganium, and after it is 55 Mew. The listed rarity is Rare.

Meganium is a Stage 2 Grass Pokémon with 100 HP. In the Pokédex this is Meganium (#154), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Bayleef. In this catalog that name is Bayleef (#153).

Hajime Kusajima illustrated this card. The same name is on 206 other cards in the catalog.

Meganium (#154) has 17 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 12 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2026. The earliest other card is Meganium 10/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). Both list 100 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Hajime Kusajima illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 12 other cards of Meganium list a different HP.

Soothing Aroma is listed as Poké-Power. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may flip a coin. If heads, remove 1 damage counter from each of your Pokémon that has any. This power can't be used if Meganium is affected by a Special Condition. The attack Poisonpowder lists 40 damage. The cost is Grass, Grass, Colorless, Colorless. The Defending Pokémon is now Poisoned. Weakness is Fire ×2. Resistance is Water -30. Retreat cost is 2.

I keep a set binder for Expedition Base Set, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Expedition Base Set set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Meganium can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
