Slowking 14/111 · Neo Genesis

Slowking is Pokédex #199, generation 2 (Johto). Slowking is a Stage 1 Psychic Pokémon with 80 HP. The card lists level 39. The card says it evolves from Slowpoke. In this catalog that name is Slowpoke (#079).

Slowking sits at 14/111 in Neo Genesis, position 14 of 111. Before it is 13 Skarmory, and after it is 15 Steelix. The set belongs to the Neo series. It was released on December 16, 2000. The printed size is 111, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Mind Games is listed as Pokémon Power. Whenever your opponent plays a Trainer card, you may flip a coin. If heads, that card does nothing. Put it on top of your opponent's deck. This power can't be used if Slowking is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed. The attack Mind Blast lists 20+ damage. The cost is Psychic, Psychic, Psychic. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 20 damage plus 10 more damage and the Defending Pokémon is now Confused. If tails, this attack does 20 damage. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The flavor text reads "When its head was bitten, toxins entered Slowpoke's head and unlocked an extraordinary power."

Slowking (#199) has 25 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 18 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2001 to 2025. The earliest other card is Slowking 14/18 in Southern Islands (2001). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 80 HP. Naoyo Kimura illustrated that card, and Ken Sugimori illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 3. 18 other cards of Slowking list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Ken Sugimori. I count 1,112 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Neo Genesis set binder is where a full Neo Genesis set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Slowking can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
