Groudon ex 2/40 · Nintendo Black Star Promos

Groudon is Pokédex #383, generation 3 (Hoenn). Groudon ex is a Basic EX Fighting Pokémon with 120 HP.

Groudon ex sits at 2/40 in Nintendo Black Star Promos, position 2 of 40. Before it is 1 Kyogre ex, and after it is 3 Treecko. The set belongs to the NP series. It was released on October 1, 2003. The printed size is 40, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Promo.

The attack Major Earthquake lists 80 damage. The cost is Fighting, Fighting, Fighting, Fighting. Discard a Fighting Energy card attached to Groudon ex. Does 10 damage to your Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The card text says: When Pokémon-ex has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Groudon (#383) has 33 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 22 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2026. The earliest other card is Groudon ex 38/40 in Nintendo Black Star Promos (2003). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 120 HP. Both list the rarity Promo. Ryo Ueda illustrated that card, and Kazuo Yazawa illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 3. 33 other cards of Groudon list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Kazuo Yazawa. I count 9 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Nintendo Black Star Promos set binder is where a full Nintendo Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Groudon can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
