Alolan Muk 58/149 · Sun & Moon

Muk is Pokédex #089, generation 1 (Kanto). Alolan Muk is a Stage 1 Psychic Pokémon with 120 HP. The card says it evolves from Alolan Grimer. In this catalog that name is Grimer (#088).

Alolan Muk sits at 58/149 in Sun & Moon, position 58 of 173. Before it is 57 Alolan Grimer, and after it is 59 Drowzee. The set belongs to the Sun & Moon series. It was released on February 3, 2017. The printed size is 149. This checklist is longer, at 173 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Power of Alchemy is listed as Ability. Each Basic Pokémon in play, in each player's hand, and in each player's discard pile has no Abilities. The attack Crunch lists 90 damage. The cost is Psychic, Psychic, Colorless, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, discard an Energy from your opponent's Active Pokémon. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "While it's unexpectedly quiet and friendly, if it's not fed any trash for a while, it will smash its Trainer's furnishings and eat up the fragments."

Muk (#089) has 31 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 23 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Muk 13/62 in Fossil (1999). That card is named Muk, while this one is Alolan Muk. That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 120 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and Hitoshi Ariga illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 4. 30 other cards of Muk list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Hitoshi Ariga. I count 155 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Sun & Moon set binder is where a full Sun & Moon set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Muk can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Alolan forms. I still need this card.
