Alolan Ninetales 145/236 · Cosmic Eclipse

Cosmic Eclipse is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on November 1, 2019. The printed size is 236. This checklist is longer, at 272 cards. Alolan Ninetales is 145/236, in position 146 of 272 on this checklist. Before it is 144 Clefairy, and after it is 146 Azurill. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Alolan Ninetales is a Stage 1 Fairy Pokémon with 110 HP. In the Pokédex this is Ninetales (#038), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Alolan Vulpix. In this catalog that name is Vulpix (#037).

Eri Yamaki illustrated this card. The same name is on 39 other cards in the catalog.

Ninetales (#038) has 55 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 40 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Ninetales 12/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Ninetales, while this one is Alolan Ninetales. That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 110 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Eri Yamaki illustrated this one. 49 other cards of Ninetales list a different HP.

The attack Rubbish Blizzard lists 10× damage. This attack does 10 damage for each Pokémon Tool card in your discard pile. Weakness is Metal ×2. Resistance is Darkness -20. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "The reason it guides people all the way down to the mountain's base is that it wants them to hurry up and leave."

I keep a set binder for Cosmic Eclipse, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Cosmic Eclipse set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Ninetales can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Alolan forms and Vulpix and Ninetales. I still need this card.
