Vaporeon-GX SM172/248 · SM Black Star Promos

Vaporeon is Pokédex #134, generation 1 (Kanto). Vaporeon-GX is a Stage 1 GX Water Pokémon with 210 HP. The card says it evolves from Eevee. In this catalog that name is Eevee (#133).

Vaporeon-GX sits at SM172/248 in SM Black Star Promos, position 175 of 251. Before it is SM171 Flareon-GX, and after it is SM173 Jolteon-GX. The set belongs to the Sun & Moon series. It was released on February 3, 2017. The printed size is 248. This checklist is longer, at 251 cards. The listed rarity is Promo.

Hydrating Drops is listed as Ability. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may heal 30 damage from your Active Water Pokémon. The attack Hydro Pump lists 40+ damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. This attack does 30 more damage times the amount of Water Energy attached to this Pokémon. Cure Shower-GX is another attack lists no damage number. The cost is Water. Heal all damage from all of your Water Pokémon. (You can't use more than 1 GX attack in a game.) Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The card text says: Pokémon-GX rule: When your Pokémon-GX is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Vaporeon (#134) has 36 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 27 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Vaporeon 12/64 in Jungle (1999). That card is named Vaporeon, while this one is Vaporeon-GX. That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 210 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Kagemaru Himeno illustrated that card, and PLANETA Otani illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 33 other cards of Vaporeon list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads PLANETA Otani. I count 14 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

SM Black Star Promos set binder is where a full SM Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Vaporeon can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Eevee and the Eeveelutions. I still need this card.
