Masquerain 14/160 · Primal Clash

Primal Clash is a set in the XY series. It was released on February 4, 2015. The printed size is 160. This checklist is longer, at 164 cards. Masquerain is 14/160, in position 14 of 164 on this checklist. Before it is 13 Surskit, and after it is 15 Shroomish. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Masquerain is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 80 HP. In the Pokédex this is Masquerain (#284), generation 3 (Hoenn). The card says it evolves from Surskit. In this catalog that name is Surskit (#283).

Kanako Eo illustrated this card. The same name is on 99 other cards in the catalog.

Masquerain (#284) has 12 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 12 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2004 to 2023. The earliest other card is Masquerain 20/101 in Hidden Legends (2004). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 80 HP. The rarity there is Rare, and here it is Uncommon. Toshinao Aoki illustrated that card, and Kanako Eo illustrated this one. 10 other cards of Masquerain list a different HP.

The attack Spiral Gyration lists no damage number. The cost is Grass. Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Confused. Switch this Pokémon with 1 of your Benched Pokémon. Air Slash is another attack lists 50 damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. Discard an Energy attached to this Pokémon. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "It flaps its four wings to hover and fly freely in any direction–to and fro and sideways."

I keep a set binder for Primal Clash, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Primal Clash set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Masquerain can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
